Awaiting Invitations to sing

I haven’t focused on music in a long time but whenever I stop thinking and just am I sing. G.O.D. (my generated orderly design) fills my throat, my ears, my lungs. Someday perhaps the world will reveal how I am meant to share this deepest gift. For the time being I mostly sing for myself and the lands I visit. Nature is a wonderful audience – and when I’m lucky the wind strikes up and jams with me.

Loops & Impromptunes

I started making music with a 5 track looper in 2015. This has been a way for my solitary vocal practice to enjoy an entrancing fullness. I have written a dozen of so songs with my looper and preformed at countless events, but I also love to improvise songs using from my audiences. I have done this busking on the street, in art gallery spaces and even in an elevator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Some of my sweetest songs are completely ephemeral, but here is one I managed to capture on video.

…When’s Tomorrow?

Ghosts & Echoes

Below is music that Alma made from 2011-2015.
This was a form of journaling for me at the time and a way for me to develop some recording know how.

Meat & Bone

Self Realized Nation (Album)

These songs came out of my observations of the Occupy movement from where I stood in 2011 on the periphery. Though 4 years later I sometimes forget that there was ever such a buzz I still believe that the true possibilities and the undeniable pitfalls represented in these songs are important to recall. The questions in these songs have guided me though many a crisis of purpose and I hope they can be helpful to others as well.

They Taught Me to Say Thank You (Album)

Songs In The Key Of Free

Alma’s Engine – that inspiring train of being – has tracks laid by the prisons. My whole creative life has borne Witness to Mass Incarceration by making art with imprisoned people. Songs in the Key of Free was another of these precious collaborations, jamming and writing songs in the dusty gymnasium at SCI Graterford.
